Cajun Tunes and Songs: Fall 2013 (Aug 25-Sept. 22)

Do you love Cajun music? Want to learn a bunch of tunes and songs in a supportive, learner-friendly environment? This is a four-session core repertory class focusing on some of the most popular waltzes and two-steps in the traditional Cajun repertory. Each 90-minute class will focus on 3-4 tunes and their associated French-language song verses. Tunes and songs will be taught by ear. I will be playing tunes on the fiddle, but mandolin, accordion (button and piano) and banjo are also welcome, as are guitarists interested in learning back-up chords for these Cajun classics. Lyrics and recordings will be posted to a class website.

Tunes we will learn include:
Jolie Blonde
La chanson de limonade
Tous les soirs
Allons à Lafayette
T’es petite et t’es mignonne
J’ai passé devant ta porte
Ma chère maman créole…and more!
