Quebec Session Class #7, Fall 2014: Contra–Friendly Tunes (Sept. 14 – Oct. 5)
WHEN: 7:30-8:45pm Sundays Sept. 14, 21, 28, and Oct. 5
WHERE: 1605 S.E. 27th Ave., Portland

PLAYING LEVEL: for intermediate to advanced players(see below for more info)
INSTRUMENTS: All acoustic melody instruments welcome (flute, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, concertina, accordion, finger-picking guitar, virtuoso ukelele, etc.) Tunes are most likely to be in the keys of D, G, or A.


Brighten the harvest season with a bushel-basket full of great Québecois dance music (contra-friendly!!!) in a supportive, informal group setting. This four-week session will offer you new tunes to play for dances and at the oh-so-good-times PDX Quebec Jam. These tunes have so much lift, you may need to nail yourself to your chair. Tunes are taught by ear. All tunes will be posted to a class website, including both sheet music and recordings.

What’s on the list?A great mix of classics and new compositions from some of your favorite players, including Éric Favreau, Jos Bouchard, and (yikes!) yours truly. On the Very Likely to be Taught List: Reel des Éboulements, Reel St-Michel, Reel d’Antoinette, Reel à Bruce, Reel de la Broue, Gigue des paroissiens, Gigue des capuchons, Gertrude, and L’Hérisson (The Hedgehog.
