Hey there all you lovers of Tabasco-spiked, gumbo-infused dance music! Lawrence Walker’s classic hit, “Laisse le Bon Temps Rouler” will be the focus of this workshop. It’s a great, learner-friendly Cajun waltz with a set of hilarious, dead-pan lyrics (we’ll learn the first verse). Many Cajun songs, especially those set in waltz time, are pretty dang tragic–not this one! You’ll learn the basic melody, underlying chords, how to dress up that melody and improvise on it, how to do back-up harmony, and how to sing the words. If time allows, we’ll also do some honing and polishing on Top Hits from the PDX Cajun jam repertory AND you’ll also get a second, bonus take-home tune. All that plus snacks, laughter, and good times!

This is a great opportunity to both add to your Cajun music repertory AND up your stylistic game.
